With the growing urbanization and transit-oriented development, the streets are dominated by vehicles and have fewer roads for pedestrians. Children in low SES neighborhoods use
the street to walk and do recreational activities. However, it is doubtful if the street is walkable for children and safe to play in. This research examines the walkability of Lomas De Casablanca, a southwest neighborhood of Queretaro. Specifically, this research paper aims to find out the street condition, connection, and usage by the younger population of 1-14 years. Various research addresses the issue through objective walkability and socioeconomic status. They conclude that streets are highly used for leisure activities in a low SES neighborhood. The data is collected through online interviews with local people, social media, Google street map exploration, and GIS data. The information is analyzed to present a set of design strategy that would benefit the inhabitants.
