Hello!
I am Sahara Shrestha from Nepal. I currently live in Richmond, British Columbia. I am working as an Affordable Housing Planner at City of Richmond. I love Urban design and City planning and believe that "world problem" can be fixed through urban design solution. Want to have a conversation about it? Feel free to reach me at my LinkedIn HERE. I am always open for a conversation about anything related to Urban Design and City Planning; it doesn't have to be about "solving the world problem". :)

All About Me
I have an undergraduate degree in Architecture from Kathmandu, Nepal. I worked as an Architect for two and half years after graduation where I was involved in various residential and commercial projects. I also did freelancing design projects for resort design, school design and landscape design. I worked as a Senior Architect in Kathmandu where I was responsible for conducting meetings with the clients, engineers from different departments, surveyors and site inspectors to design conceptual drawings for the projects.

I then moved to the United States to complete my masters degree. I graduated from Iowa State University in 2021 with a dual masters in Urban design and Community and Regional Planning. During my academic year at ISU, I worked as a Urban Design Research Assistant and Design in context Teaching Assistant. I worked as a Planner after graduation at Greene County Regional Planning and Coordinating Commission where I learnt about municipal planning process. Along with that, I advocate for PlacemakingX where I continue to learn about importance of Public space and its role for social development. I am currently working as Affordable Housing Planner at City of Richmond. I love working for the city and proud to be a part of program that addresses the burgeoning issue of affordable housing.

This site contains my academic work, projects, conference paper and blog where I post about my thoughts and perception regarding Urban Design and City Planning.
